Alexandroupoli Municipal Campsite
Just outside the urban core and right by the sea stands the Alexandroupoli Municipal Campsite, an organised camping site operated by the Municipality of Alexandroupoli's Tourism and Thermal Spa Enterprise (TIEDA S.A.). The campsite sits in especially green surroundings, between the road and the coast, and is a choice for anyone who wants to combine staying close to nature and the sea with easy access to the city. An Organised Campsite by the Sea The Municipal Campsite is a Class A organised campground and, according to its official operating licence, has a total capacity of 216 pitches and up to 648 people. Pitches are for tents and caravans, and there are also guesthouses that can host up to 50 people. The site covers approximately 7 hectares, much of it covered in trees and greenery. The pitches are a short distance from the sea, letting campers easily combine camping with a swim. Facilities and Activities The campsite has the basic infrastructure of an organised campground, and the grounds and surrounding area offer sea swimming, sports activities and family recreation. Facilities include a playground, a multi-use sports court, a tennis court and a beach volleyball court. Its location is also practical for those who don't want to be cut off from the city. TIEDA notes that a short walk away are the Floisvos open-air cinema, dining spots, shops and the Traffic Education Park. Close to Alexandroupoli One of the Municipal Campsite's biggest advantages is exactly this balance: staying in green surroundings by the sea while still being very close to the city. From the campsite you can easily head into the centre for food, coffee and a night out, without needing to leave the area for the whole day. It is about 2.2 km from the port of Alexandroupoli and about 7.9 km from "Dimokritos" airport. For Those Travelling by Tent or Caravan The campsite caters both to visitors with tents and to those travelling by caravan or motorhome. The official site has a separate price list for adults, children, cars, tents, caravans, motorhomes and electricity. Campsite reception operates 24 hours a day, which is especially useful for travellers arriving late. A Good Base for the Area The Municipal Campsite can serve not only as accommodation but also as a base for exploring Alexandroupoli and the surrounding area. From here you can combine your stay with the beaches towards Makri and Dikella, walks around the city, and day trips to destinations across Evros. For a visitor who prefers camping and wants sea, greenery and the city all within very short reach, it is one of the most practical accommodation choices in Alexandroupoli.
