About
A classic inhabitant of sandy seabeds scattered with small rocks. It lives inside a burrow beneath a stone, poking only its head out and lying in ambush.
It's superbly camouflaged against its surroundings - greyish-brown with small speckles - and its eyes sit high on its head so it can keep watch even while buried. It's notably curious: if you stay still nearby, it will often come all the way out of its hiding spot.
Completely harmless, and one of the most common small fish in the North Aegean; found wherever there's sand with a small rock to serve as a shelter.
