Red Scorpionfish

About

The spines on its dorsal fin are venomous and the sting is very painful. Don't touch or step on rocks without looking carefully first. If stung, the same treatment as for weever fish applies (very hot water), plus seeking medical help if needed.

A master of camouflage, with a reddish-brown body covered in irregular bumps that make it look like a rock draped in algae. It stays almost motionless on the seabed waiting for prey, which is why it's easy to miss - until you're very close to it.
